A 39-year-old resident of Puerto Rico was found guilty by a federal jury last Wednesday for producing child pornography. Harold Ortiz-Graulau was arrested by federal agents on June 23 at his residence following the execution of a federal search warrant. His arrest stemmed from information received by the Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD) alleging that he attempted to develop photographs containing child pornography at a local store.
An examination of the photographs, allegedly taken by Ortiz-Graulau, and several other materials seized by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, revealed an adult committing lascivious acts against a minor.
Ortiz-Graulau was indicted on July 6 for possession of child pornography. He subsequently pleaded guilty on Dec. 13. A superseding indictment charged Ortiz-Graulau with production of child pornography.
Ortiz-Graulau’s arrest was part of a nationwide initiative known as Operation Predator. Operation Predator protects children from sexual predators, including those who travel across continents to have sex with minors. Internet child pornographers and criminal alien sex offenders and child traffickers are also a priority for ICE. Since the initiative was launched in July of 2003, there have been more than 6,500 individuals arrested nationwide.
